Concert Reviews
... Wels is worth a visit for a concert of exclusively contemporary chamber music. It was a pleasure to listen to specialist duo and trio :nota bene: - Eva Steinschaden, (violin), Detlef Mielke (cello) and Alexander Vavtar (piano). They presented a select programme with supreme sensitivity and subtlety. Anton Webern's Four Pieces op. 7 for violin and piano are extremely short but challenging experiments in sound for both instruments. York Höller contributed Daydreams – seven sound poems for violin, cello and piano. Then Webern again, with Three Short Pieces which leave a lasting impression. The second half began with Five Essays on Italo Calvino for violin, cello and piano, by Gerald Resch. The concert concluded with the most recent work: Friedrich Cerha's Piano Trio, which brought some heart-warming harmonies. Congratulations to the enterprising organiser and his dedicated performers.
